What is the REMCO Project?REMCO Project?
The project “REMCO- upskilling COunselling workers for REMote, online services provision” is co-funded by the European Union Erasmus+ programme.
REMCO aims to extend the supply of learning opportunities that support and reinforce key competences for mental health workers to plan and run online counselling sessions optimally.
The recent pandemic has disrupted or halted critical mental health services across the EU (WHO, 2020); at the same time, the demand for mental health care has increased. In spite of the endorsement of the remote provision of health services (where applicable) by medical communities, the mental health care sector has exhibited low readiness to fully exploit the potential of ICT-enabled counselling services, primarily due to a lack of mental health care workers with the required knowledge and skills on how to plan and run effective online sessions.
Goals & Outcomes
The project aims to make available a curriculum with corresponding Open Educational Resources (OERs) for the continuous professional development of mental health workers, to address the emerging occupational & skills needs related to the provision of ICT-enabled remote counselling services.
The REMCO partnership comprises 6 organizations with complementary skills from the worlds of VET and higher education (bit, IAL, UNIRI, CREFOP), information technology services (EXELIA), research, consulting as well as capacity building and networking (INNOVELA), strengthened through the involvement of Weiterkommen, Društvo Za Psihološku Pomoć, Institut Za Grupnu Analizu Zagreb, Hellenic Counseling, Coaching and Mentoring Association, CISL Funzione Pubblica as associated partners.
